4 ways the event school is different
Updated: Jun 8, 2018
Yes there are lots of great traditional and online courses out there. In marketing or digital, project management or leadership, there are many existing ways to invest your time.
What we are focused on is you. Event people.
As we know people like us do things differently.
Yes there are many common skills you share with other trades, but in our world the application of those skills is different. Whilst we can learn from other worlds we are in a different space.
Often the process or solution you have in mind does not match the resources (or time) you have.
The environment we work in changes.
We build it then we break it down.
Our deadline doesn’t move, but there is constant change.
We deal in people, in real life; not units, services or data. We use the data, products, and many services but we put it into our machine and turn it all into real life events for people to experience.
The event school provides learning created by event people, with event people and for event people.
This is real world learning
Education is evolving; from Harvard through to our kid’s school. But while education is changing the way we learn has never changed.
"Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn."
At the event school we are learning by doing.
Active. Interactive. Real world, experiential learning.
We know from events that the more our attendees participate, the more they get out of it.
We always tell our new staff the more you put in the more you will get out.
And we’ve heard the best things to focus on. We know the ‘Four Cs of 21st century learning’.
The Four Cs
As endorsed by Barack Obama himself, the Four Cs were identified by the Partnership for 21st Century Skills (P21) as the most important skills required for 21st century education: critical thinking, communication, collaboration and creativity. The event school learning is based on harnessing the power of these 4 critical skills to get you to where you want to go.
Things are better with others.
We know the power of shared experiences in events. And we know it is what you know, and, who you know. So at the event school we are buddying up, workshopping together in small groups, building your knowledge and your network. We are connecting and staying connected.
In events, timing is everything and so is being in the right place at the right time, especially for your career development. So we are helping you make conections, and to keep connections with people who will make a difference for you. People who will help you go from where you are today to where you want to go. Remember, what got you here won't get you there so be proactive, be better, work better, live better.
